Burnt Offerings
Ngaire from Burnt Offerings specialises in up-cycling second-hand finds by etching glass, mirror, stone and burning onto wood, creating one-off unique pieces of art.
She uses a lot of New Zealand native animals and plants in their designs, and because she uses mainly second-hand finds, no two pieces are ever the same and each piece tells its own story.
- Ngaire uses a hot wire to burn onto wood by hand and can burn onto most woods except custom wood, treated wood and bamboo. The wood needs to be sanded clean before she can burn.
- Ngaire uses a diamond tip connected to a compressor to etch onto stone, mirror and glass
She also does commissions, working on a piece you own or sourcing a piece to fit your requirements.

Carvings & sculpture
Carved Creations
My name is Aaron Ellis-Smith. Â I was born in New Zealand and live in Mangawhai, a coastal town on the east coast of the north island, 1 hour south of Whangarei.
I began carving in 2004 and have always loved timber. I carve most types of wood (and occasionally other mediums), but find swamp kauri the most enjoyable timber to sculpt. Something about it’s character, age (this can range from 2000 to 50,000 years old), feeling and uniqueness to New Zealand inspires me. I also enjoy New Zealand’s native forest, and perhaps part of the reason I love swamp kauri is, although it is a finite resource, it doesn’t require damage to, or the felling of our wonderful native forest.
Carving is something I enjoy doing, being a part of a pieces evolution into final form is something I never get tired of. I hope that those who see my work gain as much pleasure from the pieces, as I received creating them.

FeltedPaws by Tatiana
Welcome to FeltedPaws by Tatiana – highly detailed needle felted miniature animals that capture a moment in time forever, made in New Zealand by internationally recognised artisan needle felter Tatiana Kalnins (PhD). My works have appeared in several New Zealand art galleries, in two regional publications (‘Valley Voice’ and’ South’) and one national publication (‘New Zealand Woman’s Weekly’). It has also been a huge privilege to be invited to appear in the international teddy bear magazine “Teddy Bear Times and Friends” issue 247. I have works in homes all over the world, including Australia, Canada, the UK, Germany, Hong Kong, the USA and of course New Zealand.
I use my background in animal behaviour and zoology (MSc in animal behaviour) to inform my creations so that they are more than just replicas on animals: each is alive with it’s own unique personailty and energy. I have also spent many years involved in training my blue heeler (and instructing dog training) in canine freestyle and other dog sports and this also informs my work.
My works are intended to be artistic fibre sculptures, and I try to create as much of my animals out of fibre as possible, and so tongues, teeth and lips are generally felted. The exceptions are the eyes which are custom made and the noses which are polymer clay.
Needle felted miniature animals take many many hours to perfect (on average a week per miniature in my standard size; one and half to two weeks for the large ones). All miniatures have a strong, stainless steel wire frame which will not rust. I use fibres sourced from all across the world such as merino, corridale, alpaca and mohair and silk to create and finish the miniatures as realistically as possible. The cost of commissions is dependent on size/complexity of the animal; factors like colouring, general proportions and face shape (brachychephalic breeds are more complex to make for example) all play a part in determining how much time a miniature will take, and subsequently their cost to make. Below is a rough guide on sizing/pricing – feel free to message me a photo or two for a more specific quote.

Produced on a manmade board that repels water with a specialist UV vinyl print & laminate – their pieces will not rot, swell, warp, crack or fade with the elements.
Why should you consider outdoor wall art?

If you already have lots of plants in your space, utilise a statement piece of artwork to create the ultimate wow factor.Browse their wide collection of prints collaborating with talented New Zealand artists to bring their artwork outdoors or from our house collections: A Coastal Vibe or Tropical Feels.
Their prints are also great for rooms where moisture or sun exposure means traditional artwork deteriorates.
